The Liberal's Version:

I. Only God is worthy of unbounded trust. You, therefore, shall live for and serve only the living God.

II. You shall not advocate any religious, political, economic, or social ideology or allow yourself to be committed to it.

III. You shall not lay exclusive claim to God's blessing or call upon God to bless your selfish purposes. (Exodus 20:7)

IV. You shall act reverently toward the natural world and regard those who labor with respect. (Exodus 20:8-11, Deuteronomy 5:12-15)

V. You shall treat the elderly with deference and respect, for they preserve the memory of the community. (Exodus 20:12)

VI. You shall not threaten the lives of others by either aggressive or irresponsible behavior.

VII. You shall not threaten another person's marriage, covenant, or family life.

VIII. You shall not deprive in any way another person's or group's freedom. (Exodus 20:15)

IX. You shall not permit any other person or group to be treated unjustly. (Exodus 20:16)

X. You shall not grasp after what belongs to someone else or seek for yourself what belongs to all people. (Exodus 20:17)


Holy Bible Version:

I. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (Exodus 20:3)

II. Thou shalt not make any graven image nor bow down before any graven image, nor serve them: for I am a jealous God, showing mercy to those that love me, and keep my commandments. (Exodus 20:4-6)
